In addition to improved production efficiencies, minimal product damage and maintaining product orientation are also benefits of vertical accumulation. Twenty indexes per minute are possible depending on the product.

Nercon has designed the Vertical Accumulator for a variety of different products and packages such as cartons, trays and tubes in the food, personal care, household and chemical industries.

The In-Line Vertical Accumulator (drawing and photo left) uses custom designed flights to handle the product. The accumulation time available is determined by the height of the unit. A stop device is required to stop and ready the rows of product before indexing.

Production line downtime is significantly reduced on Nercon’s FILO (First-In/Last-Out) Vertical Accumulator. During normal operation, the product passes through the accumulator. When a downstream malfunction occurs, the accumulator will INDEX UP rows of products until the accumulator is full or until downstream production resumes. At that time, the accumulator will reverse and deposit rows of product back onto the transportation conveyor.

While vertical product accumulation is an effective solution to save manufacturing space, it can also be used to accumulate unstable products. Flights or carriages are specially designed by Nercon engineers, according to customer product specifications.

Nercon's Vertical Accumulator is easy to maintain, and provides a smooth, controlled product flow. To accommodate various package sizes, an optional sensor controlled by a selector switch is available to identify the correct product width adjustment.

The Side Load Vertical Accumulator is also available (drawing and photo left.) Pushers are utilized for the infeed and the discharge. Depending on the product and carrier design, it may be possible to use both sides of the accumulator for storage.

Both the Side Load and In-Line Vertical Accumulators are available in stainless steel or painted mild steel construction.
