Air Conveyors are a high speed choice for transporting and accumulating products such as the plastic trays shown in the left photo. The basic principal of an air conveyor is to force low pressure air through a directional louver where small holes are punched in the top surface, and then dimpled with a sloped profile to divert air flow. The product is levitated by the vertical components of the airstream and propelled by the horizontal component of the airstream. The drive force is supplied by a low pressure blower.

An advantage of air conveying is that no damage occurs from a moving belt under the product. High transport velocities can be achieved, but care should be taken to make sure that impact damage does not occur.
